LZ-Customs was founded in 2018 as a hobby project driven by one thing: frustration with the poor selection and low quality available on the market.
With generations of experience in machining, casting, and technical design, we began developing our own solutions—initially on a small scale for our own use and that of our acquaintances.
Today, this has evolved into a dedicated production of custom-made steering wheels, where every product is crafted with a focus on quality, detail, and durability.

PRODUCTION METHOD

STEP 1
All old material is removed, and the steering wheel is completely stripped down. We clean, prepare, and rough-sand the surface to ensure a clean and stable base before proceeding with the rebuild. This ensures a perfect starting point for the rest of the process. -
STEP 2
The steering wheel is inspected and any damage is repaired. We reinforce any weak spots and ensure proper alignment before we begin the rebuild. This lays the foundation for shape, strength, and durability. -
STEP 3
We shape the form and ergonomics using foam and materials tailored to the customer’s order. Thickness, grip, and contours are shaped by hand to ensure optimal comfort and a precise fit. -
STEP 4
The surface is fine-tuned and roughly shaped so that everything lies smoothly and naturally. This is an important step in ensuring a perfect fit before the leather, Alcantara, or carbon fiber is applied. -
STEP 5
The steering wheel is temporarily mounted to check the proportions, lines, and symmetry. All adjustments are made at this stage, before we move on to surface finishing, gluing, and stitching. We also install heating wires in the steering wheel at this stage. -
STEP 6
Next on the list is installing padding on the steering wheel. This makes the steering wheel more comfortable to hold and provides a comfortable grip while driving. For contoured steering wheels, we will use less padding.

STEP 7
Every steering wheel is unique, and each one features subtle variations since they are all handmade. Every single steering wheel is fitted with a custom leather cover tailored to your specifications. This process involves the use of adhesive, heat, and patience. If you, as a customer, have ordered an LED display, it will be installed and customized here as well.

STEP 8
We use only high-grade Japanese carbon fiber. Layers of epoxy are applied at 7-hour intervals. The steering wheel is mounted on a special rotating stand to ensure that the epoxy is evenly distributed between drying periods. Sanding and polishing are critical parts of this step. Once this time-consuming process is complete, 4–5 layers of clear coat are applied. Everything is also wet-sanded for maximum gloss.

STEP 9
The steering wheel undergoes a final quality check. Any imperfections are corrected, and the steering wheel undergoes a crash test. This step is for your safety. Once this is complete, any LED display must be programmed and customized. We want you to have a quality product that will last for years to come and provide you with driving pleasure every time you get behind the wheel.
